31 st March 2017 - Division 1 Co. League Rd 3

Na Gaeil
Daingean Uí Chúis

Venue: Killeen

Throw In: 6.30

Na Gaeil  played round 3  in their County league at home to Dingle on another wet day. Na Gaeil lined out with a couple of changes  from the Stacks game due to some injuries and players unavailability. Dingle, playing a familiar smart and composed brand of football started brightly and  upset the rhythm of Na Gaeil’s game and gained the upper hand in this contest early on.  Na Gaeil players tried hard but were experiencing difficulty containing  the quick movement and team work being played by th Dingle outfit. The scoreline of Na Gaeil 0-5 to Dingle 0-12 at half time reflected the first half and Na Gaeil faced a uphill battle  to gain parity in the 2nd half.

With a  few positional changes and aided with wind behind them Na Gaeil  scored 3 successive points early in the 2nd half closing the gap to 4 points however just as Na Gaeil  were making a strong comeback a  key phase of the game  resulted in Dingle getting an important goal bringing them back to a 7 point lead again. Na Gaeil, to their credit responded and with a good point and a well taken goal by substitute Jack Sheahan reduced the lead to 3 points going into the last quarter.

Points were exchanged  by both teams again however Na Gaeil couldn’t find the scores and Dingle closed out the game in the final minutes with 2 more points. The final score of Na Gaeil 1-12 , Dingle 1-17   would suggest a closer contest but Dingle showed their quality with good ball retention frustrating the Na Gaeil players at times.  Na Gaeil will learn from this game and experienced another level playing in this division on the day.  Next game , also at home to Dr Crokes and players and management with be keen to gain some critical league points with a improved team performance.
